UNIFEM Strategies to End Violence Against Women

An evening event hosted by UNIFEM in London

Osnat is Director of the UNIFEM office in Brussels and was previously UNIFEM Regional Programme Director for Central and Eastern Europe. She will talk about UNIFEM programmes to end violence against women, and in particular about the work funded by the Trust Fund to End VAW which she helped to set up in 1997. This is a great opportunity to hear from someone who has been directly involved in managing UNIFEM programmes over many years.

The meeting will be preceded by the UNIFEM in London Annual General Meeting which will run for about 30 minutes and is open to members only.

Rhoda will talk about the problems facing women in Sierra Leone today. She is from Sierra Leone and is currently with the Centre for Applied Human Rights at the University of York on a Protective Fellowship Scheme.

Dr Symmonds will focus on a series of successful Asian-British films of the last two decades, which not only portrayed a very different view of Asian women from that constructed by British cinema in the past, but were also directed by women.
